DIABETES
All ages of people are facing most common and important health problem is DIABETES MELLITUS known as DIABETES. Now a days Diabetes is
increasing more rapidly all over the world. It is not only
an urban problem but also a rural problem also.
There are so many reasons behind this diabetes such as our body does not make enough insulin and it secreted by pancreas,intake of high carbohydrates food and lack of physical
activity,eating more than sufficient amount of food, mental stress and hereditary.
WHAT IS PRE-DIABETES:
- When pancreas gland does not secrete required amount of insulin, glucose level increases in blood and this will leads to diabetes.
- Glucose level is not have high levels in blood during pre-diabetic stage.
- Normally,when glucose level is higher than 120 mg per dl in early morning,200 mg per dl after lunch for a diabetic person.
- During pre - diabetic stage glucose level vary between 120-125 mg per dl in early morning(Impired fasting glucose-IFG), between 140-200 mg per dl after lunch(Impired glucose tolerance-IGT).
- If any one of the above conditions are shown by a person,then they are considered to be in pre-diabetic stage.
IDENTIFICATION TESTS:
- FPG: This test is done before breakfast in the early morning.If Glucose level is 100-120 mg per dl,then the person is said to be diabetic.
- OGTT: This test is done after 2 hours from lunch.If glucose level is 140-200 mg per dl,then the person is said to be diabetic.
- HBA1C: This test is done before breakfast or after lunch.This test will measure the average amount of glucose in blood during 3 months.If the count is 5.7-6.5 mg per dl,the person is said to be diabetic.
- ALBUMIN TEST: This test is done to find out any issues regarding kidney related diseases.There is no symptoms present in the kidney infected person, until the kidneys failures.
- GAD, ILET CELL ANTIBODY TEST: If this test can be done we can find out whether the person will be diabetic or not before 10 years.
SYMPTOMS:
- Hunger
- Fatigue
- Thirst
- Blurred vision
- Itchy skin
- Dry mouth
- Frequent urination
- Losing weight
- Tingling in hands or feet
TIPS TO AVOID DIABETES:
- Food - Eat healthy and low carbohydrates food means avoid white rice,potatoes etc.
- Exercise - Improve physical fitness and do walking, simple exercises,yoga regularly.
- Control obesity - weight loss gives more benefits to us and more over we can away from so many diseases or health issues.
- Control high B.P - High blood pressure is the initial symptom of diabetics and it rises the risk of heart stroke.
Self care is very important to control from pre -diabetes and we should change our life style to control the blood sugar levels are quite normal.Consult the experienced doctor who can give you the suggestions to control pre-diabetic stage initially and he should guide to us what kind of food we will eat.We must check up blood tests yearly once or twice.
PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE
