WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF STRESS IN TEENAGERS



MEANING OF STRESS: 

We can watch unpleasant behaviour in teenagers due to physical or mental or emotional stress. Stress is one of the most problem in teenagers and is a vital health topic in the world irrespective of gender.

There are a lot of reasons for stress in teenagers. Elders are also facing stress because of their personal and professional life. I am sharing some of the causes for stress in Teenagers.

CAUSES OF TEENAGER'S STRESS:

ADOLESCENT STRATEGIES: 
  • Many psychological and physiological changes take place in teenagers during their adolescence.
  • Teenagers brain become more and more mature during puberty.
  • Maturing of brain may increase the stress in the Teenagers.
SCHOOL PROBLEMS:
  • Teenagers often take stress about their studies.
  • To complete projects in time, they may be stressed out.
  • One of the most important  reason is Exam Fear.
  • May be due to their parents pressure on them for securing good result.
  • For not achieving good score or ten grade in their studies.
  • Changing their school frequently is also one of the reason of stress because they are habituated with their atmosphere, friends, teachers and have many sweet memories in that school which they don't want to lose.
SPORTS: 




  • Many teenagers like to play sports of their interest. And everyone don't want to lose a game. If they lose a game they become depressed and stressed.
  • Everyone wants to be in first place, even if they got second place they get stressed and go into depression. 
HPA  AXIS:
  • HPA functions are responsible for the stress.
  • HPA means HYPOTHALAMIC - PITUITARY - ADRENAL REACTIVITY AND HORMONAL IMBALANCE.
  • HPA axis is responsible for stress. 
  • Hypothalamus releases a hormone called  CRF / CRH. 
  • CRF means CORTICOTROPIN- RELEASING FACTOR.
  • CRH means CORTICOTROPIN- RELEASING HORMONE.
  • When CRF binds to CRF-Receptors on the anterior of PITUITARY GLAND, ACTH is released.
  • ACTH means ADRENOCORTICOTROPIC HORMONE which binds the adrenal cortex receptors and stimulate adrenal gland to release CORTISOL.
HORMONAL IMBALANCE:
  • When anyone get stressed, two hormonal systems are activated. These system are responsible for releasing EPINEPHRINE and NOR-EPINEPHRINE into the blood rapidly.
  • This reflex is called "FIGHT OR FLIGHT" reaction to the stress.
FRIENDS REJECTION:
  • Teenagers  spend most of their time in school and they maintain good friends.
  • If they quarrel with each other and don't speak to each other, they feel more stress.

FAMILY PROBLEMS:



  • Teenagers feel more stress about their parents problems.
  • Divorced parents, single parent child get stressed a lot. When they watch their classmates parents who are caring and loving their children, they feel stressed because they don't have a such type of affectionate family.
  • If  parents are quarreling frequently in home, teenagers will get stressed.
FINANCIAL CONDITION;
  • Financial problems and poor status also leads to depression and stress in teenagers.
  • Seeing their fellow rich classmates wearing costly dresses, having cool gadgets also make them stressed.
SEXUAL HARASSMENT:



  • Most of the teenagers are get depression because sexual harassment  in their school or home.
  • Sexual abuse / Physical abuse in their family.
DRUGS ADDICTION:
  • Drugs addiction will spoil the teenagers physical and mental health.
  • Alcohol, drugs, smoking are bad habits to destroy their future and it increases anxiety, depression and stress.
LOSS OF NEAR & DEAR:



  • Deaths of their close friends, family members and relatives  may be one of the reason of stress.
FAILURES IN THEIR STUDIES:



  • If they have not achieved their goals, they get more stressed.
MORE EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:
  • Taking part in more extra curricular activities like Dancing, Swimming, Singing, Badminton, Tuition leads to more stress and depression in the teenagers.
LACK OF SLEEP:
  • If they have not get enough sleep, then they will feel stress.
  • Most of the teenagers addicted to mobiles, tabs, TV etc which has rises to sleep deprivation.
  • Exams Preparation takes more time  and they don't have enough sleep.
OVERTHINKING ABOUT BEAUTY:
  • Teenagers concentrate on their beauty like hair styles, color, skin color, face glowing etc.
  • Compare with other friends of skin color.
